Head towards the protected landscape of Serra do Açor and be enchanted by Piódão, known as the Nativity Scene Village and the grand winner of Portugal’s 7 Wonders in the Remote Villages category.
Piódão is one of the 12 Historic Villages of Portugal and has been a National Heritage Site since 1978. This schist village, located in the municipality of Arganil, in the heart of Central Portugal, truly lives up to its national and international reputation.

Our home is open and ready to welcome you. Every detail has been carefully thought out with love, so you can have the best experience in the region and feel the peace and joy we experience in this very special place.

At Encanto de Xisto, you will find all the equipment you need for a comfortable and functional stay, such as:
Gas water heating
Bed linen and towels
Pool towels
Insect screens
Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hairdryer
Drinking water
First aid kit
Cleaning products
Various seasonings
The kitchen is fully equipped with all utensils, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, and stove, allowing our guests the opportunity to prepare their meals.
The village has no shops or market. Bring all the supplies you need for your stay, as well as medications and personal items. If you prefer, you can shop in Arganil or Oliveira do Hospital, both about an hour away from the village.
If you have an electric car, you can also charge it in these towns, as the village does not have chargers.
The region offers various walking or biking trails. Don’t forget your gear!

In the village, you may encounter some cats that live there. If you feel like feeding them, you will find food and a little dish in the vacuum cleaner cupboard. This treat should always be done outside the house.
In some settings, the microwave stays on for 2 or 3 minutes after use for cooling. Don’t worry about it.
If you need to change the gas, the key is in the drawer under the microwave.
Batteries for the water heater, in case you need to replace them, are also in the drawer.
